Complimentary 15-30 min Consultation:
This initial 15-30 min consult gives us a chance to talk about your specific health and wellness goals, as well as to qualify you for our programs.
Physical Evaluation - 1 hour:
As a Neurosomatic Therapist and CHEK (Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology) practitioner I evaluate a person’s musculo-skeletal structure, pain, and movement dysfunction, and then design a soft tissue treatment plan to address their individual imbalances.
The physical assessment includes a structural assessment and movement analysis. The structural assessment allows us to see how a person’s body aligns itself in a three-dimensional field of gravity so that we can examine and correct a person’s structural imbalances and asymmetries. This is important for the simple fact that the musculo-skeletal system must have balance and symmetry in a three-dimensional field of gravity in order to be strain-free and pain-free.
The movement analysis involves examining a person’s primal movement patterns and specific movements for their work, home, or sport environment. Primal movement patterns are squatting, lunging, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, and walking. These movements make up the basis of all human movements and would have been necessary for our ancestors to survive in our primal habitat. Prior to modern times, anyone who could not perform these patterns would have a limited chance of surviving in the wild. We focus on helping clients to achieve the primal standard and then to exceed it based on their work, home, or sport environment.
Each person's evaluation is individualized to there specific needs and assessments may take longer or shorter depending on the client.
The treatment session usually follows the physical evaluation on the same day. The areas of your body that are worked on in your treatment session will be based on the specific pain/dysfunction you have and your postural distortions that were identified in your physical evaluation. Come wearing loose clothing that allows access to your skin. Tight clothing will be too restrictive for soft tissue treatment. Follow up treatments are typically scheduled once a week, but if necessary two sessions in a week can be scheduled. You may also be given exercises, stretches, or self massage techniques to continue at home in order to advance and maintain your progress.
